Personality
Upon the first encounter with the Hyur, Roderick exhibits a calm and collected personality. Seemingly a well-grounded person, Roderick's true face is revealed amongst his friends and colleagues. Underneath his calm facade is a kind-hearted and laid-back individual with a penchant for joking around. Regardless of his carefree nature, when pressed with critical situations or conflict, Roderick remains calm, keeping his emotions in check.
Appearance
Roderick is a fair-skinned Hyur hailing from Limsa Lominsa. He has medium-length blonde hair parting in the middle that he keeps swept back on most days or tied up occasionally. The shape of his face is round, with his cheeks and jawline being slightly slimmer than the rest of his features. In contrast to his hair, Roderick has a pair of dark green eyes. With several years of adventuring under his belt, the Hyur has developed a toned and athletic build suited for the lifestyle.

Son of a former pirate, turned merchant and explorer, Roderick was always fond of adventure from a young age. Tales of distant lands, of exotic creatures and peoples shared by the sailors and pirates of Limsa Lominsa, emboldened the young man, setting in stone his path. Although heir to a sizable fortune partly due to his father’s own adventures and mercantile business, Roderick, at the detriment of his mother’s wishes, left his home of Limsa at the age of 15 to explore the vast world, taking on the adventuring lifestyle.
For the first few years of his journey, Roderick travelled throughout La Noscea and Thanalan, offering his hand to aid those in need and partnering up with novice adventurers. Although not the strongest adventurer, through determination or stubbornness, he persisted through any ordeal he faced.
On one fateful visit home, Roderick came across one of his father’s colleagues, a Hingan merchant named Ebisu. Throughout Ebisu’s visit, Roderick discussed Ebisu’s homeland of Hingashi, curious of the merchant's home. Although Ebisu gave a brief lesson on Hingashi’s history, the tale of Hingashi’s Samurai piqued the young man’s interest. Inspired by Ebisu’s tales of the Samurai, Roderick took the next step of his path, journeying to the port city of Kugane to train in the ways of the Samurai. A foreigner in a strange and exotic land, he attended a swordsmanship school with Ebisu’s recommendation. At the end of his tenure, he left Kugane, homeward bound to Eorzea. Resuming his role as an adventurer, Roderick became a wandering swordsman aiding those he came across with his newfound mastery of the blade . Throughout his journey, the Hyur continues to hone his skill in swordsmanship, learning from others across the star to develop his own unique style, a synthesis of Eastern and Western swordsmanship.
